Megamundo Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

Megamundo is an independent fan site about Grand Theft Auto. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive. This policy covers the website at megamundo.be and the Megamundo app for iPhone and iPad.

The short version: there are no accounts, you are never asked for your name, your email address or any other personal detail, and nothing you do here is sold or handed to advertisers.

1. No account, ever

You cannot sign up and you cannot log in. Reading the news, liking an article, watching a clip and receiving a notification all work without an identity. Nothing on this site or in the app asks who you are.

2. The app

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Apple gives the app a push token for your device. That token is stored together with the language you read in and whether the app is a test build or a store build, and it is used for one thing only: sending you a short message when a new article is published. The token points to a device, not to a person, and it is never used for anything else. Turning notifications off in iOS Settings, or deleting the app, stops it from working; the token then expires on Apple's side and is removed.

Likes

The first time you like an article, the app generates a random identifier and keeps it on your device. That identifier is sent along with each like so that the same device cannot like the same article twice. It is not derived from your device, your Apple Account or anything about you, and it is not connected to the push token or to any other data. Deleting the app deletes it.

Settings

Your language, your choice between day and night mode, and the list of articles you liked stay on your device and are not sent anywhere.

No analytics

The app contains no analytics, no advertising identifier and no tracking of any kind, and it shares nothing with third parties beyond what is described above.

3. The website

Visitor statistics

The website uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which articles are read. Google sets its own cookies for this and receives your IP address. The reports we see are totals, not individuals. The app does not use Google Analytics.

Likes

Liking an article in a browser works the same way as in the app: a random identifier is stored in your browser and sent with the like. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Embedded clips and streams

Clips and streams are played by YouTube and Twitch inside their own players. Those players set their own cookies and follow the privacy policies of Google and Amazon respectively, over which we have no control.

Posts from X in articles

An article that reports on a post from X shows that post as X publishes it. Only those articles load a script from X; every other page on this site does not. The embed sets its own cookies, sees your IP address and follows the privacy policy of X, over which we have no control. We ask X not to personalise the embed, but we cannot enforce that. Blocking scripts from x.com leaves the text of the post and a link to the original in place, so nothing is lost.

Posts from Reddit in articles

The same goes for a post from Reddit. Only an article that shows one loads a script from Reddit, which sets its own cookies, sees your IP address and follows the privacy policy of Reddit, over which we have no control. Blocking scripts from reddit.com leaves the title of the post, who posted it and a link to the original in place.

4. Sending in news

If you use the form to send in a tip, what you type in it is stored: the headline, the optional link to the source, an optional note, and the name or nickname you choose to add. The name field is optional and exists only so you can be credited. Tips are read by a person and are not published automatically.

5. Where the data is kept

The pages, the articles and the images are static files served by GitHub Pages. Likes, push tokens and tips are stored in a hosted PostgreSQL database provided by Supabase. Notifications are delivered by Apple. These providers process the data on our behalf; none of them receive it for their own purposes.

6. How long it is kept

A like is a number in a counter and stays as long as the article exists. A push token is kept until it stops working or you turn notifications off. A tip is kept until it has been dealt with.

7. Children

Megamundo is not aimed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anything from them. Since nothing here identifies anyone, there is nothing to collect in the first place.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what is held about you, and ask for it to be corrected or erased. Because there are no accounts and no identifiers that point back to a person, there is in practice nothing to look up: we cannot tell which likes came from your device, and we would not be able to find them even if you asked. You can remove everything from your side yourself, by turning notifications off, clearing your browser data, or deleting the app.

9. Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
