A Vice City sign on the Miami Heat arena costs 975,000 dollar
A giant “Welcome to Vice City” sign now sits on the roof of the Kaseya Center in Miami. Rockstar Games pays 975,000 dollar for it, around 840,000 euro. The sign is part of the marketing for Grand Theft Auto VI.
Fans followed the construction of the sign over the past few days. On 22 September a helicopter lifted the parts onto the roof of the arena, IGN writes. From the air the lettering is now clearly visible.
Ryan Rea posted a video and a photo of the installation on X.

Paid in three instalments
The amount comes from Doug Hanks, a journalist at the Miami Herald. According to him, Miami-Dade County collects the money under an agreement with Rockstar, because the county owns the arena. The page of the agreement he shared splits the fee into three parts.
Miami-Dade set to collect $975,000 from the Vice City lettering going up on the county-owned Kaseya Center, per the agreement with GTA maker Rockstar Games
The county receives 243,750 dollar when the agreement is signed, and the same amount once all materials are on the roof. The final 487,500 dollar follows when the sign works.
The Kaseya Center is the home of NBA team Miami Heat and stands in the centre of the city. Vice City in the game is a fictional version of Miami.
At least a year on the roof
The sign stays in place for a while, according to documents seen by IGN. It remains for at least a year after installation, or until the last home game of the Miami Heat in the 2026-2027 season. That game is scheduled for 11 April 2027.
The agreement also set a deadline of 15 October for the installation. Had the sign not been in place by then, Rockstar could have ended the deal. Whether anything is planned for that date is not known.
Bigger plans for Miami
Rockstar already spoke with local officials in August about temporarily turning the city into a kind of real Vice City, IGN writes. Events and a possible takeover of parts of the airport were discussed. Which of those plans go ahead is not yet clear.
The campaign caused debate in Miami. Some local officials criticised the involvement of the city in a game built around crime, and the sheriff of Miami spoke out against it. The city eventually approved the campaign. GTA VI is due on 19 November for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
