CyberLeek threatens to release a GTA VI build with the full story
The GTA VI leaker CyberLeek threatens to release a build of the game with the full story mode. That would happen once the memecoin of the leaker is worth 30 million dollars, IGN reports. At the time the coin stood at 3.8 million.
What the message says
The warning appeared on the website of CyberLeek, according to online reports cited by IGN. The build would hold the full story mode, played to the end and including the end credits. Take-Two can stop it with a disc version of the game and a public apology.
CyberLeek again presents the leaks as a protest against the lack of a physical disc for Grand Theft Auto VI. Whether the leaker means a playable build or a video of a full playthrough is not clear, IGN notes.
Far from the target
Market value is the total value of all coins of a crypto asset in circulation. When IGN published its article, the coin of CyberLeek was worth 3.8 million dollars. Earlier that day it peaked at 5.7 million, as the message spread on social media. IGN calls 30 million unlikely.
Targets tied to Lucia
CyberLeek also tied lower targets to the clothing of Lucia in new leaked footage, IGN writes. At 2 million dollars the leaker promised footage of Lucia in a bikini. At 4 million that would be footage of Lucia fully naked. Whether such footage has appeared is not known.
Many fans doubt that the leaker cares about physical media. They accuse CyberLeek of running a crypto scam, and criticise anyone who buys the coin, IGN reports.
Back after a quiet period
CyberLeek went quiet after a series of leaks in August. Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games, started an investigation and sent subpoenas to companies such as Discord. This week the leaker returned with an alleged gameplay video of 24 minutes, according to IGN. It shows cutscenes, story moments, a first-person camera, and Jason and Lucia naked.
Every video of CyberLeek points to a website where fans pay with the coin to vote on new leaks. Such a vote is reportedly running now, IGN writes. An analysis of crypto transactions in late August suggested the leaker had cashed out around 270,000 dollars.
According to Rockstar, the publicity around the CyberLeek hack wiped around 2 billion dollars off the market value of Take-Two. The studio said so at the employment tribunal in Glasgow.
What is not known
Whether CyberLeek really has such a build is not known. How the footage got past the security of Rockstar is not known either, and neither is who is behind the leaks. In August Rockstar called the leaks heartbreaking for its developers and unfortunate for fans. The studio kept the release date of 19 November.
