Four new GTA VI screenshots show Jason and Lucia as a couple
Four new screenshots of Grand Theft Auto VI show Jason and Lucia together. They appear in issue 27 of LOVE magazine, which puts the pair on its cover. The issue also carries an interview with the narrative team at Rockstar Games.
LOVE magazine shared the images and a part of the article on Friday 2 October, RockstarINTEL reports. IGN Benelux reported on them on 4 October. The four screenshots are not among the official downloads on the website of Rockstar.
What the screenshots show
The cover is an illustration of the pair by Rockstar, with the words “America’s Most Wanted” above the name of the game.

The first screenshot is in black and white. Jason sits in a garden chair with a drink, in a white vest and sunglasses. Lucia stands next to him in a leopard print top and jeans.

In the second, the two sit opposite each other in the booths of an American diner. Both hold a pistol. A large bag lies next to Lucia. IGN Benelux thinks it is meant for stolen money. What happens in the scene is not known.

The third shows Jason on a motorbike in a leather jacket, with a pistol in his hand. Lucia walks next to him with a cigarette and a brown travel bag.

In the last, the two stand at a pool table in red light. Jason wears a sleeveless shirt of Steel Horse Motorcycles, Lucia holds a cue. IGN Benelux places the scene in a biker bar.

A more modest American Dream
Rupert Humphries is senior vice president of narrative at Rockstar. He tells LOVE that a version of today’s world in a game has to be more over the top than the real one. Otherwise players could just as well go outside, he says. The aim is satire that is larger than life, not a mirror.
Lucia had to be someone who wants a better life and lets nothing stop her, according to Humphries. The American Dream may be more modest now, he says. It is a house for your family and your loans paid off, not wild success. Miami and southern Florida are a front line for that, in his words.
Two writers on Jason and Lucia
Writer Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern tells LOVE that both leads had to be vulnerable, tough and flawed. They are right sometimes and wrong sometimes, and they learn from each other. That made them authentic and a good team, she says.
Writer Alexa D’Agostino adds that a fully realised person with their own wants turns out perfectly imperfect. Such a character has clichés but is still undeniably real, she says.
Rob Nelson, co-studio head of Rockstar North, is also interviewed in the issue, RockstarINTEL writes. What he says in it is not yet known.
The issue
Issue 27 costs 25 euro and reaches newsstands on 5 October, several gaming sites report. The pre-orders for the GTA VI cover at the French distributor KD Presse sold out within minutes, according to the same sites.
GTA VI comes out on 19 November.
