GTA VI brings podcasts and lets players hear the radio on foot
Grand Theft Auto VI is the first game in the series with podcasts, Rockstar Games says. Jason and Lucia can play them on demand. Radio and podcasts also work on foot, through headphones and earbuds connected to their smartphones.
Rockstar announced the feature on 8 October on its Newswire, together with the first six radio stations of the game. The podcasts come on top of the regular radio of Leonida, which Rockstar calls terrestrial radio.
Music outside the car
In earlier games the radio only played in vehicles and in some buildings, IGN notes. In GTA VI the headphones and earbuds take it along everywhere. That means music while walking, while exploring and even during a fight, IGN Benelux writes.
Radio and podcasts also play in vehicles. How players switch between the car radio and the headphones, Rockstar has not explained.
What is not known
Rockstar has not said which podcasts there will be or who presents them. It is also not known how many there are or how long they last.
Earlier games did have talk radio, such as WCTR in Grand Theft Auto V. Those were regular stations, without episodes to play on demand. The new music page also lists talk radio among the stations of GTA VI, next to genres such as classic rock.
More information follows on the dynamic score of the game, Rockstar writes. GTA VI appears on 19 November for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
