Jason and Lucia look more detailed than in the first GTA VI trailer

Jason and Lucia, the two leads of Grand Theft Auto VI, look clearly more detailed than in the first trailer, IGN writes. Skin, hair and lighting have all been refined since December 2023. GTA VI comes out next month.

Rockstar Games first showed GTA VI officially in December 2023. Large amounts of gameplay had leaked before that. The first trailer was the first official look at the game.

The first trailer

In the first trailer the skin of Lucia looks relatively smooth, with less detail in her face, according to IGN. Her hair moves less, and she wears the same hairstyle for most of the trailer. Jason gets little screen time. He appears with a shaved head and some facial hair.

The second trailer

The second trailer, from May 2025, shows many more versions of both characters. Lucia appears with wavy hair and in a gold dress. Jason has brown hair under his cap. He looks sweaty in the heat of Vice City, veins show on his arms and his beard is less even.

The light on their skin also falls more naturally, IGN writes. Small imperfections make the two look less like polished digital models. The different hairstyles and clothes may hint at how much players can change the look of Jason and Lucia. How much freedom players get is not known.

A mission statement

The extended look of 27 August shows a smaller jump than the one between the first two trailers. The difference with the first trailer is now clear, according to IGN.

Rob Nelson, co-head of Rockstar North, told GamesRadar earlier that the first trailer was mainly a mission statement for the team. The game was not fully formed at that point. The trailer served as a compass for the direction of development.
