Nintendo leaves GTA VI on Switch 2 up to Take-Two and Rockstar

Nintendo has nothing to announce about Grand Theft Auto VI on the Switch 2. That is a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar, says Devon Pritchard, president of Nintendo of America. Pritchard said so in an interview with Variety.

The question came up in a broad interview about the plans of Nintendo, IGN reports. With the Switch 2, more games from other publishers come to a Nintendo console. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is one example, according to IGN.

Powerful enough

The Switch 2 is more powerful than its predecessor. It runs Cyberpunk 2077 and the recent remaster of The Witcher 3, IGN notes. GTA VI also appears on the Xbox Series S, the least powerful of the current consoles.

Several games of Rockstar are already on the Switch. They include Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy and L.A. Noire. Rockstar has announced nothing about Red Dead Redemption 2 or GTA VI on the Switch 2.

Pritchard also repeated an old line of Nintendo. The company has always said it is for people from 5 to 95, and that is still true, according to Pritchard. Nintendo wants a wide range of experiences on its console.

Two weeks apart

The remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time appears on 5 November. That is two weeks before GTA VI. No other big game has come that close to the release of GTA VI, IGN writes. Saturday Night Live recently parodied the two releases in a sketch.

Whether Rockstar is working on a version for the Switch 2 is not known. GTA VI appears on 19 November for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
