Cliff Richard does not know the game that revived Devil Woman
Cliff Richard does not know what Grand Theft Auto is, IGN writes, citing an interview with The Times. The single Devil Woman plays in the Extended Look of Grand Theft Auto VI. Its daily streams have since risen by 325 percent, according to IGN.
A song from 1976
Devil Woman is a single by Richard from 1976. The song had a revival before, in 2017, through the film about the figure skater Tonya Harding. In the Extended Look of 27 August it starts at 16:49.
Where the figure of 325 percent comes from, IGN does not say.
Heard through the family
Richard heard about it through a nephew, according to the interview. The two sons of that nephew recognised the voice of their great uncle. Richard thought the Extended Look was a game show on television, IGN writes.
Richard is pleased that the music still finds new listeners. The interview appeared in The Times on 25 October, behind a paywall. Whether the song can also be heard on a radio station in the game, Rockstar Games has not said.
Grand Theft Auto VI comes out on 19 November for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
