First GTA VI TV commercial drops the shower scenes and Xbox
The first TV commercial for Grand Theft Auto VI has aired on NBC Sports. The spot of 90 seconds is largely the launch trailer, but without the shower scenes. Xbox is not mentioned as a platform, IGN writes.
The fan account @GTAVI_Countdown listed the differences on 21 October.
The first GTA 6 commercial aired on NBC Sports, featuring the launch trailer but with some changes:
- Cut shower shots, resulting in other shots being a bit longer
- Longer plane shot
- Longer Jason and Lucia shot
- Xbox logo completely removed due to the deal with PlayStation
Longer shots instead of the shower
All three shots in the shower are gone, according to IGN. The time they took goes to other scenes. The shot of the plane runs a little longer. So does the shot of Jason and Lucia leaning on a car. In the longer version, Lucia almost falls over when Jason nudges her.
The launch trailer itself came out on 15 October. The fan account @mnm345x posted the full TV spot.

Only PlayStation in the picture
The spot names no Xbox at all, although the game also comes out on Xbox Series X and S. IGN sees this as a result of the marketing deal between Sony and Rockstar. The official trailers were captured on a PlayStation 5, and Sony calls its console the best place to play.
Viewers who first hear of the game during a sports broadcast could conclude that it only comes to PlayStation, IGN writes. That is probably what Sony is hoping for, according to IGN.
In September, The Verge reported that pre-orders were heavily skewed towards the PlayStation 5. Xbox executive Matthew Ball replied that Microsoft was very happy with the pre-orders, IGN writes. They match the share of Xbox in the console market, according to Ball.
What is not known
Whether the spot also airs outside the United States is not known. Rockstar has not said why the shower scenes were cut, or whether more spots will follow before release.
Grand Theft Auto VI comes out on 19 November for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
