GTA VI reportedly comes to PC in the first quarter of 2027
Grand Theft Auto VI comes to PC in the first quarter of 2027, GamesBeat reports. That is a few months after the release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. The site cites four anonymous sources. Rockstar Games has not commented.
Four sources, no confirmation
GamesBeat spoke to four industry sources who know the plans of the studio. All four asked to stay anonymous to protect their business relationships. Rockstar did not respond to a request for comment, the site writes. Take-Two has not commented either, IGN notes.
A version for PC has never been announced. When Rockstar set the date of 19 November 2026, it named only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
Much faster than GTA V
Grand Theft Auto V came out on consoles in September 2013. The PC version followed in April 2015, about a year and seven months later. A gap of a few months would be much shorter, GamesBeat notes.
Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2 also reached PC only after the consoles, IGN points out. GTA V still has a large group of players on PC, through GTA Online and roleplay servers.
The link with online play
According to GamesBeat, the PC version matters for the online side of the game. Rockstar bought Cfx.re, the team behind the roleplay framework FiveM, in August 2023. FiveM only runs on the PC version of GTA V.
Rockstar has not announced an online mode for GTA VI. Twitch chief executive Dan Clancy told Bloomberg at Tokyo Game Show that online play for GTA VI arrives next year. Fans call it GTA Online 2 for now.
Filings in a tribunal in September already mentioned an online format for 32 players. Rockstar called that format a closely guarded secret.
What Take-Two said earlier
Strauss Zelnick, the head of Take-Two, has always referred questions about a PC version to Rockstar. In May, Zelnick told Bloomberg that Rockstar always starts on console, to serve its core audience first.
In November 2025, Zelnick said on CNBC that the video game business is moving towards PC. The industry is trending towards open rather than closed platforms, according to Zelnick.
What is not known
There is no release date and no price for the PC version. The system requirements are not known either. Rockstar has not shared the frame rate or resolution of the console version. Whether the PC version and online play arrive together is also not known.
